The Machame Route, known as the 'Whiskey Route', is one of the most scenic and popular paths on Mount Kilimanjaro. Approaching the summit from the southwest, it offers excellent opportunities to 'walk high, sleep low', leading to high acclimatisation and excellent success rates. The route climbs through five distinct climate zones, starting in lush rainforest and culminating in the arctic summit at Uhuru Peak.
